Wow. Sony sure does make some awful choices from time to time. Their latest misguided invention is the Psp GO.

When a gamer wants something, they want it right away. The PSP GO was supposed to do all that. but instead what it has done is confuse gamers and previous psp console owners. Lets run down some features.
CONS:
1) No UMDS. aka. If you own previous PSP games then there is no way you can play those. The new PSP GO focus’ on straight to drive games, meaning you get a 16 GB hard drive with your PSP GO and all the games are stored on that. The only way to get a game is to makeĀ a Sony network account and download the games from them.
2) PRICE. The PSP GO is 249.99 cdn! Thats 80 DollarsĀ more than a PSP 3000. It’s like, whats the point? another 50 dollars I could get a Sony PS3 for 299.99 and that has a Blu Ray Player.

3) The Glossy finish is prone to Dirt and smudges. This thing is going to get dirty REALLY fast.
4) NO 2nd joystick. This one baffles me. It’s almost like Sony is against shooting games. No 2nd joystick makes that genre feel completely unplayable on the PSP GO.
PROS:
1) This thing is sexy. It feels so nice in your hands and is very portable. Bringing your games around with you is easier then ever!
2) The idea of having games stored on a hard drive is a nice one.
3) IT also has very easy connectivity with your PS3
Conclusion:
All in all the PSP is a mixed bag. That bag being filled with bad candy you get after Halloween and eventually throw in the garbage. I mean Sony just slapped everyone in the face who previously owns a PSP 3000. The is no reason for anyone who already owns a PSP to go out and buy a PSP GO. Its too expensive, it’s too lacking in features to warrant 250 bucks.
If you don’t own a PSP, then the PSP GO might be an ok purchase but not at the current price point. Wait for it to to drop to atleast 199.99 before you think about it.
I work at Future Shop and we haven’t sold one in a week and this thing just launched. A brand new consumer gadget should make you WANT it, not think about whether it’s worth value or not. Fail.
THANKS FOR READING GUIZE!

This is a really great review. As a consumer I find it very useful. I guess I’ll stick to a Nintendo DS for the young gamer at my house.
